Upcoming Event! QUILT CAMP! April 8th - 11th, 2010 at Windermere Resort. Fabrics & Friends will be hosting "QUILT CAMP" at Windermere Resort this April. This is going to be a great retreat weekend to get some serious quilting time in and maybe even finish some of your UFOs!! Come join us for three or four days of fun and friendship at the lake of the Ozarks. Prices include all meals, lodging, sewing sessions, two free classes, one mystery project, an art quilt demonstration, and a partridge in a a pear tree! Ha Ha.
We have reserved Koehler Hall at Windermere (http://www.windermereusa.org/ ). This is a mini-lodge/conference center. There will be a great big sewing room with special electrical considerations, cutting stations, and an ironing center with our guest rooms just across the hall. All our extra large rooms will have a minimum of four people but can hold up to six with a Queen size bed and two very comfortable bunk beds and are handicap accessible. Breakfast and Supper will be in the Dining hall, a short walk through camp away, and lunch will be catered in to our sewing area. There is a kitchenette in our sewing center with a fridge and a microwave if you would like to bring your favorite snack. Massage Therapist Mary Kunkel will be on hand on Saturday to help you work out your kinks as well! ( http://www.marykunkellmt.com/ ) Bring your jammies, your machine, your Ott light and electrical cords, and a healthy stack of projects. Without having to answer the phone, do the laundry, or check on the roast, a mountain of projects can be completed!
We expect to have ALOT of fun with all our friends. This our first try at having a retreat and we have already learned a bunch. We are anticipating this to grow into a annual party with speakers, multiple sessions and vendors. Sew get in on the ground floor and you can say "I was here for the first one!" We will have two break out sessions - informal classes- at no cost to participants (there is of course an optional kit to purchase). Class one will be a "Grommet Bag" and the other will be a Sixty Degree Triangle Quilt- both by Heather Mulder-Peterson. There will be some prizes, and some surprises so don't miss out on ALL the excitement. There will also be an optional free Mystery block project! If you choose to participate in the mystery you will need to bring with you - or purchase - 6 coordinating FAT 1/4's Light to dark. Licensed Massage Therapist - Mary Kunkel will be joining us on Saturday to get all your kinks worked out. The sessions and prices break down like this - Jump Start - Thursday evening, April 8th - Sunday 3pm, April 11th - $165.50 meals, lodging and sewing.

Bus Trip to The Rabbits Lair On Saturday, May 1st we will be hopping on the big bus and traveling to Rogers Ark. to visit "The Rabbits Lair Quilt Shop". It is a wonderful place in historic downtown Rogers, with floor to ceiling bolts of fabric and it is a historic building so those ceilings are high! We will also be stopping at the shop in Pea Ridge, and at the shop in Carthage and at Merrilee we quilt along in Springfield. $75.00 gets you boxed Breakfast, Lunch, great shopping, games, prizes and a tremendous amount of quality time with your fabulous hostess!
